New paintings from the studio and other news...

These are the last two paintings out of my studio. They are 30x40" and can be hung in any direction.

A lot has happened since I made the last post. The Carolina Mixed Media Art Guild participated in Art of the Carolinas that Jerry's Artarama sponsors every year. It is a four day event with lots of workshops, all kinds of art supply vendors and many demos. CMMAG does the support each year of preparing classrooms for the workshops and having a Make and Take activity for anyone who wants to make a small work of art. It is a lot of fun, but tiring! If you wish to read more about this event, you may wish to read Penny Arrowood's blog or Michelle Davis-Petelinz's blog.

Our guild is also selling calendars for the Arts for Life/ Durham nonprofit organization. These calendars are available at many locations around the area and can be purchased from the guild's web site. 100% of all proceeds will go directly to Arts for Life. I just delivered several calendars to the Carolina Artists' Colony in Sanford, NC. If you are in the area, please stop by and pick up a stocking stuffer for the new year! Allow some time to shop the Carolina artists' booths and spend some time enjoying the arts.

The silk kimono that I made to donate to the Scrap4Art's annual fundraiser won the Craftsmanship Award! (You can see and read about it here.) I was really surprised to get the notice, but to receive that award makes me very happy. I have always said that I had rather be known for fine workmanship than for any fancy idea that I come up with. So thank you Scrap4Art!

I will be posting about another exciting opportunity that I participating in soon. Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Yes, it is! Since I put all of my work in galleries, I never get to see the reaction to those who see my paintings. This was so exciting. If I was asked one time, I was asked a thousand times about it or told how much someone loved it. It is sitting in my studio waiting to go to a gallery. I only had one coat of the finish on it and must do the final coat though before sending it out.

It was great seeing you and I love keeping up with your work and what you are up to!
