Here are some photos of my new studio. The first few are of the storage room behind the studio.

I had written about being in the process of moving and am way behind with computer work and have not made a post here for months. But, I have finally got my studio almost ready to work. I am one of those people who cannot work in a mess. Things need to be in order for me to create.
My new studio is large with two storage areas. It will accomodate at least five large tables in the center of the room for working. I am still in the process of getting rid of some of my collected bits that I had saved for making assemblages and collages. I really could not use all the stuff that I have collected in twenty years. So every day for the past two weeks, I have donated at least one box of stuff to Habitat or Goodwill and some days my car was full of donations! I am going to try for one more week of paring down my extras. I just hope that some mixed media artists run across my finds and can put them to good use.
Then it is off to Alaska for almost three weeks! When I get back, we will install my new light fixtures and heat and air. And I will be ready to work and create. I have kept a notebook of ideas for the past seven months and so I cannot wait to tackle some of the ideas and see if they amount to anything worth pursuing.
Here are some photos of my studio that I took about two weeks ago. Things have changed slightly, but since I need to get more lighting before I can get good photos, these will have to do. Enjoy!

Wow Jeanne! I am so happy for you. Just went through moving my studio and redoing so I know how much work it is. But well worth it. I love how you've organized everything so specific. Like you, I need order and tidiness to work or else it's not enjoyable. Thanks for sharing your photos. Enjoy your beautiful new space!
Wow, that's a phenomenal studio!! Congrats on that and have a blast in Alaska!
Kelly
Wow is right! I'm glad my little clock has found a new home, and I know you'll be very creative in your new space. Hmmmm, space for at least five tables? I think this means art-filled play days in the future...
Have fun in Alaska, and we'll look forward to seeing the first work out of the new studio soon.
Jeanne, the new space is FABULOUS! I know how excited you are to be able to work again, too! I see now why you fell in love with this place (and haven't even seen the living area - ha!) Enjoy your trip, and I can't wait to see what comes out of this gorgeous studio upon your return :-)
Thanks, everyone! I know I will enjoy it.
Cathie, I have always had to be organized to create anything. But I do make a mess. I just clean up between projects and try to leave my studio in good condition so I am ready to start the next day.
Kelly, I will have some fun for you while I am in Alaska. :) It is the perfect time of the year to go there since we are having such a heatwave in North Carolina.
Michelle, Your clock was the first thing I hung on the walls as I knew exactly where I needed it. I've changed a few things since the photos, but I am sure that I will be changing everything a lot for the first year.
I think there is plenty of room for play days. (Maybe we could try a board meeting first though) For a big play day, if the studio is a bit crowded, then we can use the workshop as it is over 1500 sq. ft and it is getting organized as well. Right now I have one of my kilns and the toaster oven for polymer clay in my studio, but eventually, both kilns and toaster oven will be set up in the workshop. That will give me even more space in the studio.
Penny, We still have a lot of work to do, in the house, the studio, the workshop and the exterior. I have spent most of my time on the exterior since moving here. It is coming together. Vince promises to do some interior work while I am gone---we shall see. Most of the time I end up having to do it as he is out in the garden, cutting trees, mowing, doing earthwork---and he hates painting, drywall and caulking---and there is a lot of that still to do. As soon as I am back, I will be working my regular art job and all the other chores and projects on the house have to be worked in as time allows. I just can't wait to get started with creating again!
Looks wonderful!!! I know you are dying to get in there, and you've done a fabulous job getting it all set up. Looking forward to seeing all the wonderful art that is to come from all the inspiration collected over the last several months!!
Thanks, Jodi! I can hardly wait to get to the studio. Good thing the trip was already scheduled or I might have to postpone it so I could create!
Love your studio, Wow! Good Luck in your new studio. I hope it brings you lots of happiness, and creativity.
Great studio, we share a need for order! I cannot work in chaos. My studio has just been set up too...but you've given me some great ideas.
RitaMarie and Ingrid,
Thank you! I expect to have lots of inspiration and work coming out of it!
Beautiful studio!
