Anchorage, Alaska
I won't be writing much about polymer clay, mixed media or my artistic endeavors as I am on vacation.
I made it to Anchorage last night at 9:00 local time. Bright daylight and beautiful weather. Although it was 1:00a.m. North Carolina time, my son drove me around a lot of the city that has changed dramatically in the past three years. C Street has been extended. There is a monstrosity of a hotel being built in mid-town across from Sears. It is hard to believe that this was approved as it sort of has a blocking effect of the mountains that can be seen from the middle of downtown. Of course, we all like for some things to stay as we remembered them and with the influx of tourists, more hotels are needed. I sat next to an army pilot on the plane who was going to be here for a few weeks and he could not find a hotel during his stay.
My son sat me up with an email account so if you want to email me here, please do so. He is taking off all next week to spend time with me. We are going to take some road trips.
I brought some polymer clay items to show him and he liked the ATCs---esp. the ones that I am making from Eugena Topina's technique class and the faux watercolors using the inks.
I brought Amy Smith's bird couple picture that she made for him. He loved it. It is so charming! She will be a featured artist at Artist Alley in Southern Pines next month. I may just have to get me one of her creations.
I am up early so going to take my son to work and then start my sight seeing early today, call a few friends and see what is happening new here.

Can we say, jet lag? ;) Enjoy the stay!
I am enjoying the stay. So fun to be where the weather is cool and people have energy! It is amazing that I have had less than seven hours of sleep every night and I seem to have plenty of energy. That heat and humidity in Raleigh can really make one tired!
Thanks for the plug Jeanne!
Amy, Hope you have a wonderful turn-out. I know you will do well. Just wish I was there to be the first to pick one for myself!
